What is HighStreetPositives?

HighStreetPositives began with a simple conversation. My mum told me she didn’t want to visit the high street anymore because she’d read that “the high street is dead.” But as I looked closer, I kept coming across good news: new shops opening, exciting regeneration projects, and inspiring placemaking activities. The reality was so much more hopeful than the doom-and-gloom headlines suggested.

That disconnect sparked something. I started sharing a few positive stories on LinkedIn, showcasing the bright spots I’d noticed. The response was overwhelming. People resonated with the posts, not just because they were uplifting, but because they—like me—were frustrated by the negative narrative and recognised how damaging it could be. Constantly hearing that the high street is “dying” risks becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy, leading to a cycle of decline. It discourages footfall, dissuades investment, and chips away at the identity of our vital community hubs.

HighStreetPositives grew from that initial response into something bigger. I now run two newsletters, amplifying these stories of hope and success.
